UNFURLED: SUMMER 27 IN PARIS
Summer 27 ‘Unfurled’ arrives in Paris, bringing Aje founders Adrian Norris and Edwina Forest’s distinctly Australian vision of beauty, craft and movement to the runway.
Presented during Paris Fashion Week at the Collège des Bernardins, the collection unfolded within the soaring, centuries-old architecture of the historic former Cistercian college. Classical stone, vaulted ceilings and monumental proportions provided a striking backdrop for the contemporary collection, where fluid silhouettes, intricate embellishment and sculptural forms brought a new energy to the space. Beside the runway, guests styled looks from the new collection Resort 27 ‘Siren’, creating an additional expression of the Aje world within the historic setting. The rush and anticipation of the runway moved through the venue with an unmistakable sense of occasion, while the setting lent each look a quiet grandeur.

Drawing on the primordial beauty of Australia’s botanicals, ‘Unfurled’ reimagines native flora through hyperreal imagery, sculptural form and artisanal detail.
Created in collaboration with acclaimed Australian artists Vicki Lee and Ted O’Donnell, banksia, bottlebrush, grevillea and milk thistle emerge through atmospheric botanical artworks, translated across the collection in fluid prints and dimensional surface work.
The runway moves through floating organza, sweeping georgette and bias-cut silhouettes, punctuated by sculptural shoulders and exaggerated drape.
Three-dimensional florals bloom across dresses, while cascading beaded fringing, petal appliqué and shimmering grid embellishment bring texture and movement to the collection.
A distinctly Australian palette moves from monochromatic black, ivory and champagne into pistachio, emerald, shaded khaki and silver, before deepening into earth tones, delicate pink and sun-warmed sand. Distressed jacquards, raw-edged hems, industrial buckles and effortless denim introduce a more rugged counterpoint, grounding the collection in Aje’s signature interplay of softness and strength.
Against the timeless beauty of the Collège des Bernardins, ‘Unfurled’ finds a compelling tension between old and new – contemporary Australian design set against one of Paris’ most storied architectural interiors. The result is a runway charged with movement and atmosphere, where botanical forms, intricate craft and sculptural silhouettes move through the space with cinematic beauty.
From the first stages of bloom to the final look, Unfurled captures nature in motion – an evolving landscape of colour, texture and form.
